The Changing Seasons
The subtle change-over has turned into a full-blown assault. Summer is gone. Fall is here.
I love Fall. The days are generally warm, and the nights are cool but not frigid. I could stand for a little more daylight after supper, but that’s my only real complaint. Oh… except that Fall is too short, and I don’t like what comes after it.
With its passing also comes the end of pickling season, at least in the Maritimes. The farmer’s markets have sold off their abundance of cucumbers, grocery stores no longer display mason jars prominently, and website traffic is down considerably. It’s time to sit back, relax, and hope that you’ve made enough pickles to get you through until next year.
